A note from Altor UK/US
Over the years we have found that many clients need US connected advice often by accident of birth or work assignment. Typically you might find yourself needing a US specialist adviser because you hold a US passport, are a US citizen resident in the UK, have a US tax reporting requirement or have assets such as IRAs or 401Ks that are US resident from a period of work in the US.
Finding a UK adviser who is qualified and authorised to give advice is hard as most will avoid advising on any US connected parties. Due to onerous reporting requirements most UK platforms and providers will also not deal with US connected persons or investments.
Our solution was to partner with Beacon Global to provide advice in all of these US connected situations. Our advisers have taken their Series 65 exams and are able to advise US residents, UK resident US citizens and UK residents with US resident assets. As an extra layer of protection our advice is checked by Beacon and insured through their Professional Indemnity cover.
We work with investment platforms that are specialists in the area of US connected clients. This is important to ensure that your US tax advisers are receiving the correct tax reporting.
We work with a variety of UK/US tax accountants and can refer you to one if necessary. We are always happy to work with your existing accountant.
